Bingo Calling Names

Bingo calling names

From its origination Bingo has been more of a social get together rather than mere gambling. To make the occasion more entertaining bingo callers would use either rhyme or reason phrases to go with the number drawn such as number 1 - Kellys eye which was used because an Australian bandit was believed to only have one eye, or number 4 - knock on the door ( rhyme ).

With casinos realizing that bingo had huge potential in the market place, slowly the rhyme and reason calling started to fall by the way side as they could fit in more games in a day/evening and generate more turn over. Calling to day at the bingo halls is now generally the numbers on their own or in the case where there is a double digit they are called together as - six and two - sixty two.
